In yoga we practice bringing all aspects of body, mind and spirit to a place of oneness, harmony and balance. From this place of oneness, we find that our whole life can be transformed. For what we are within radiates outward to all areas of our life.
Sivananda Yoga practice consists of twelve basic poses that seek to increase strength, flexibility, proper breathing, and ease in meditation.

When the surface of a lake is still, one can see the bottom very clearly. This is impossible when the surface is agitated. In the same way, when the mind is still, with no thoughts of desires, you can see the ‘Self’. This is called ‘Meditation’
We control mental agitation by concentrating the mind either internally or externally. Internally, we focus on the ‘Self’ or the consciousness of ‘I am”, when we are meditating. Externally, we use other points of focus such as a pose. The point is that we concentrate on ONE thing and are eventually becoming ONE. Thus, yoga is a path to self-realization and enlightenment, we become ONE with all there is, which is the ultimate goal
Yoga is a life of self-discipline. Yoga balances, harmonizes, purifies and strengthens the body, mind and soul. It shows the way to perfect health, perfect mind control and perfect peace with one's own Self, the world, nature and God.
